Former Councillor Kay Manderville
Years of Service 1988-2003
Former Councillor Kay Manderville served five consecutive terms on City of Belleville Council.
During her 15-year tenure as a Ward 1 Councillor, Kay chaired several committees including the Planning, Heritage, Social Services, The Parrott Riverfront Trail, Downtown Improvement and cultural exchanges with Lahr, Germany and Gunpo, South Korea.
Kay was the City's representative on the Ontario Association of Municipalities and served as Vice-President of that organization.
She served many years on the Loyalist College Board of Governors, was appointed in 2004, was Vice Chair of the Board from 2008-2009 and again from 2010-2011.
While Vice-Chair of the Albert College Board of Governors, she led the development and construction of the Parrott Junior School. She was also a trustee and Vice-Chair of the Hastings County Public School Board.
Former Councillor Kay Manderville also chaired the development of the Riggs Centre for the Quinte Ballet School, Belleville Heart and Stroke and was a Grant Reviewer Team member with the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Kay was also the City's rep on the O.S.U.M. (Small Municipalities Board). During her time there, she organized a conference in Belleville, bringing members from across Ontario to view our businesses and educational opportunities.
In 2015 Kay was awarded a lifetime membership to the Belleville Agricultural Society. Other awards Kay received are the Queen's Jubilee Medal, in recognition of her community service. In 2017, Kay was awarded the Canada 150 Medal for "demonstrating a high level of individual excellence and achievement in any field benefiting the people of the Bay of Quinte Riding."
In 2019, Kay was awarded the "Notable Woman Award" from the National University Women's Association. This award was for 100 women across Canada whose work most benefitted women in the Community.
This pedestrian bridge is named after former Councillor Kay Manderville to recognize and honor her dedication and commitment to the City of Belleville.
The pedestrian bridge was made possible through a major donation by Pre-Con on October 4th, 2001.
