CIVIC MEMORIAL TREE

PLAQUE TEXT:

Planted at Thanksgiving, 1998 This crimson king maple is dedicated to the civic spirit of citizens of the City of Quinte West, incorporated January 1, 1998. This spirit was early demonstrated as volunteers and staff of our new city helped the Township of North Dundas recover from the devastation of "Ice Storm '98", which caused destruction or damage to hundreds of thousands of trees, properties, houses and utilities throughout eastern Ontario and Quebec in January, 1998. This dedication was officiated by His Worship Mayor Jack P. Arthur of the City of Quinte West and His Worship Mayor Claude Cousineau of the Township of North Dundas.

The new-born Quinte West was clearly proud of its role in helping another municipality rid itself of ice-storm damage.
