RAILROAD MONUMENT BAYSHORE TRAIL
PLAQUE TEXTAs part of Canada's centennial (1967) celebration the railroaders of this area and their friends volunteered many hours to install the locomotive 2534 at West Zwicks Park. It became a landmark in Belleville, which recalled the city's role as a railroading center. Due to its deterioration it had to be removed in 1997. At that time it was moved to its new home next to the CN station in the village of Brighton. In 1997 area railroaders again volunteered their time to enhance this portion of the Quinte bayshore to create a new visual reminder of their role in Belleville's history.
